Rise Moor Academy

Developing Leaders. Strengthening Communities. Building a Better Future.

What Is Rise Moor Academy?

Rise Moor Academy (RMA) is the Community Leadership Development and educational arm of The Rise Moor Healing Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Portland, Oregon.

Serving individuals ages 17 and older, Rise Moor Academy provides educational experiences, mentorship, workforce development, volunteer opportunities, and hands-on leadership training designed to help individuals discover their potential, develop practical skills, and become active contributors to their communities.

Our mission is rooted in a simple yet powerful purpose: “To uplift fallen humanity and teach those things necessary to make us better citizens.”

We believe that stronger communities begin with individuals who are equipped with the knowledge, resources, confidence, and opportunities necessary to lead meaningful and productive lives.

Our Community Leadership Development Framework

Rise Moor Academy operates through The Rise Moor Healing Center’s four foundational pillars:

Health & Wellness: Promoting physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being through education, supportive resources, personal development, and preventive wellness practices.

Agripreneurship: Connecting agriculture, entrepreneurship, environmental stewardship, and food systems education to develop practical skills, economic opportunities, and sustainable communities.

Financial Intelligence: Equipping participants with financial knowledge, economic literacy, entrepreneurship skills, and wealth-building principles to promote financial independence and long-term stability.

Civic Engagement: Preparing individuals to become informed, responsible, and engaged citizens through community organizing, public service, civic education, advocacy, and leadership development.

Together, these four pillars form an integrated educational framework that encourages personal transformation, economic opportunity, and collective community advancement.

From Participation to Leadership

Rise Moor Academy is more than an educational program. It is a structured pathway for individuals to turn learning into meaningful community action.

Participants begin with our Where To Start Orientation, where they are introduced to our mission, programs, resources, and opportunities.

Through an assessment of their needs, wants, and desires, participants can develop an individualized Community Leadership Development Plan that connects their personal goals with practical learning and service opportunities.

Discover: Explore available programs and identify personal goals through orientation.

Develop: Build knowledge, confidence, and essential life and leadership skills.

Engage: Participate in workshops, volunteering, community projects, and experiential learning.

Apply: Gain practical experience through internships, apprenticeships, and community leadership initiatives as available.

Lead: Advance toward becoming an Adept Community Leadership Developer, mentor, facilitator, coordinator, or instructor.

Our goal is not simply to educate participants, but to cultivate individuals capable of educating, empowering, and uplifting others.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Rise Moor Academy combines traditional educational experiences with hands-on community engagement.

Through Common Unity Workshops, educational seminars, conferences, mentorship, volunteer service, and community-based projects, participants have opportunities to connect classroom knowledge with practical experiences.

Our approach emphasizes learning by doing, developing leadership through service, and creating solutions to real challenges affecting individuals, families, and communities.

Volunteerism & Community Service

Through our volunteer and outreach initiative, the Economic Optimism Collective, Rise Moor Academy connects individuals, organizations, and businesses with meaningful opportunities to serve.

Volunteers can support community outreach, educational programming, food systems initiatives, civic projects, and other activities that strengthen community relationships while developing valuable skills and leadership experience.

We believe that service is not separate from leadership development — service is where leadership begins.

Who Can Participate?

Rise Moor Academy welcomes individuals ages 17 and older from diverse backgrounds, including students, working professionals, entrepreneurs, veterans, community advocates, individuals navigating life transitions, and aspiring leaders.

Whether you are seeking personal development, workforce readiness, practical experience, professional connections, or opportunities to give back, Rise Moor Academy offers a pathway to discover where you belong and how you can contribute.

You do not have to arrive as a leader. You only need the willingness to learn, grow, and serve.

Our Vision

We envision a future where communities are strengthened by informed, capable, economically empowered, and service-oriented individuals who recognize their responsibility to themselves, their families, and humanity.

Through education, collaboration, and intentional leadership development, Rise Moor Academy seeks to create a continuous cycle of learning, service, mentorship, and community transformation.

When individuals rise, families rise. When families rise, communities rise. Together, we Rise Moor.
